This is a test.

A test of the emergency posting system. It’s only a test. I’m checking to see if e-mail posting works on this version of Wordpress. I hope it does. [Update: It doesn't.]

We saw Wedding Crashers on Saturday night; that montage at the beginning is terribly gratuitous. In fact, now that I think about it, the entire film was pretty gratuitous. Nonetheless, it was funny, mostly due to Vince Vaughn’s innate ability to rant like a lunatic. Owen Wilson spoke like Dignan, as well.

We rode about 26 miles yesterday. Fun stuff.

i saw that movie last night- laughed my ass off during the first hour or so, sat in disbelief as the whole thing went into a 45minute romantic kick and snickered a bit at the end.

and oh yeah, the gay stereotypes for cheap frat-boy laughs are total bullshit. if those kind of stunts were pulled on any other minority group there would be hell to pay, but instead it’s ok to have a repressed, sex-crazed, physically deformed, maladjusted, artist ‘homo’ there as a gay character to get laughed at.

i’m not here to say it’s not bullshit, but i also think that there are more than one minority group out there that would have gotten overlooked. but like i said, the gratuitous, politcally incorrect thing is in vogue, and has been since the Farrelly Bros. started making fun of people with handicaps in There’s Something About Mary.

as i was watching the movie, i found myself having a few of those frat-boy laughs, and i looked over to alison and amie who were there, and they weren’t laughing at all. i felt like an asshole.

i looked up who wrote and directed the movie, and found that it was a bunch of no-name guys that struck it big with good casting. i still don’t think the writing was terribly good, and the editing was shite; the movie should have been an hour-and-a-half, tops.

true about other people getting shat on by popular culture, especially in more subtle ways- it was slightly hyperbolic for emphasis. yeah- i can imagine a lot of people with less juvenile senses of humor finding it less than funny. but it’s always hilarious to have people get shot in the butt, right?
