i’m in the middle of the dells (not to be confused with the dalles) wisconsin at a lame internet cafe. i say lame, because the menu is full of items like “dotcom blt” and the “veggie web cruiser.” the worst, is probably the “hard drive hotdog.” hard drive hotdog?! for chrissakes, pull you head out of your ass.

we just left chicago this morning, which was good as i had hoped. we saw wet hot american summer which was as good as i had hopped.

john cougar mellancamp blasting in the other room. back by sunday. ponder this: why does shit smell so bad?

yesterday was tim’s birthday. i wonder how many people knew that, or if they sent him emails or something. i didn’t send one. happy birthday, tim.

i’m in a library, in

Wednesday, September 19th, 2001

i’m in a library, in baltimore, maryland, waiting for ali to get out of a meeting. it’s been a long and exhausting trip so far, and our plans to go to d.c. and new york have changed. we’ll stay here in baltimore tonight (which is strange within itself, because i’m having trouble finding my way around. i almost turned down a one way street, and have done some other stupid stuff while driving, but i’m flustered driving around by myself. besides, driving around the south and east coast is something different entirely, and i could make a humongous post about that alone…but i won’t). the school i dropped ali off at was in the middle of the ghetto.

i almost delved into the past week’s events once again, but after checking some sorely missed blogs, i’ve decided not to.

tomorrow we go to new jersey, which is the closest we’ll get to new york, and then we head to rochester for the weekend to hang out with josh. i guess we’re playing a show there this weekend, which should be good fun. oh yeah, and it will be my birthday.

i kind of wished i had been able to post more, but with driving all day and being exhausted at night, it gets kind of hard. i’ll be back in less that 2 weeks, and then school will start, and then things just might get back to normal.

take care, out there.

perhaps, two days late, i can add my voice to all others in some sort of collective mourning.

that’s all; i don’t want to press the point.

i’m at a kinko’s in

Tuesday, September 11th, 2001

i’m at a kinko’s in houston, texas; a somewhat unplanned stop on our way to new orleans. i had a little argument and then decided to head out on the town for a little walk. and so i run into a kinko’s. the trip’s been good, the grand canyon was grand, as in big, but that’s about it. the lighting made it look like the whole thing was just a damn painting. we went to oklahoma city, which, strangely enough, is where we learned about the world trade center attack. the day’s been stressful, to say the least, but tomorrow we have one more drive day and will be in new orleans. plans to go up to d.c. and new york are tentative right now.

i’m glad to see people have been chiming in. i have so much to tell you all about, but don’t want to spend too much time here. so, i shall bid thee adieu.

Monday, September 10th, 2001

that haiku is a work in progress, the last line should probably be:

he hangs out in bars.

see, i’m wondering whether i should talk about a specific guy with a mullet, or mullets in general. it’s hard work, writing this, but we all have to sacrifice for our art. here’s another one:

ben did not visit
i wonder why he snubbed me
too sexy i guess

apparently everyone’s lazy, as tim suggested the kids might be. so it goes. they really should add their thoughts into the pool.

i want to send a shout out to all tim’s readers: “Yeah!”

peace.

I will do my best

Friday, September 7th, 2001

I will do my best to visit your neck of the woods. You know how I love to tickle you…um er I mean listen to poetry.

Sadly I was ruined on poetry through belgard. I did however think that the calvin and hobbes comment was complimentary.

perhaps I can change your diaper.

I leave work at 6.

Friday, September 7th, 2001

as ben is visiting the tri-cities, he should visit brian and i while he is here. however, he may choose to ignore this request and spend all of his time with a screaming baby that apparently acts just like me. i love babies. of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens to be the case, as recently i have been sending numerous emails to the reply-all crew (that includes ben), and they have been full of nonsense such as poetry and screaming (once again, ben’s niece), and perhaps in the great scheme of things, ben would rather change his niece’s diaper than listen to me screaming poetry.

on the upside, i have exactly one week left in the tri-cities, and then once again into the breach that is bellingham and the physics and math departments of WWU and tutoring and taking classes and going to the beaver inn and casa que pasa and playing video games and getting no play. i bought this nonsensical book at the powell’s technical bookstore in portland that involves very abstract mathematics as applied to foundational quantum theory and it is absolute nonsense and i’m a nerd. so long.

I am heading back to

Thursday, September 6th, 2001

I am heading back to the tri-cities tomorrow to visit my niece. It should be interesting to see how much she has grown. My guess is that she is still screaming, eating, and shitting. Kind of like Brandon.

James, call me with your new phone number and address. I would like to drop by perhaps tonight if possible.
