I have three songs! Let’s get some more! LET’S HAVE THEM!

I had a nice long conversation with the record pressing folks today and have essentially ironed out all the kinks. There are still some licensing issues since this is the most complicated part of the process, but I’ve got it mostly figured out. People keep asking me if they need to do anything other than make a song. The answer is no. I’ve got everything else in hand. I’m also designing the Bacon Day ‘09 T-Shirt right now, and hopefully I’ll have that posted some time in the next few days. In the meantime, check out last year’s design updated for ‘09 here.

Here’s a song by the Lucksmiths.

Guess How Much I Love You – The Lucksmiths

These guys are playing their very last show on the day of AT&T’s wedding.

One week and counting, kiddos! I absolutely can’t accept songs after Saturday, so they’d better start rolling in. The earlier the better, because I have to listen them, check and alter the levels, figure out the song order, do some sequencing and preliminary mastering, and burn them to a CD.

“Whence” means “from where”. Does anyone know the old English-ish version of “to where”?

Here’s a song written by one of my dad’s old friends and recorded recently by two of my parents.

Here’s the one My Little Brother song written by B, in video diary form.

When It Pains It Roars (My Little Brother, 2007) from bmpmlb on Vimeo.

This was written in 1999 (I think) and recorded in 2007. I sent it off to Tim and Josh so that they could add vocals, and Ali appears on it too. The clips in the movie were all recorded 2007-2009 in Colorado, Oregon, Hawaii, and Alberta.

You’re all hard at work on songs for the IRCMT:WE, right?

I hang my head in amusement.

You’re all working hard on your songs, right? I’ve received one completed song so far, from one Rick B. Wallace, and it’s awesome. I’m filling out paperwork and getting all the licensing stuff taken care of.

In the meantime, I’ll post another old song, written and recorded in 1999, mixed down a couple weeks ago. As much as Tim might be a little “embarrassed” by some of his old songs, his songs always kicked my songs’ asses.

Nostalgia – The Life and Times of You

Back then, I sang from the top of my head rather than from my chest. My voice sounds like some crazy amalgam of Eric Bachmann and Elmo.

IR Collective Mix Tape: Wedding Edition: Update

Monday, July 13th, 2009

The time is essentially upon us. I would like to have the songs in the correct format, the paper-work filled out, and the CD sent to the pressing company by July 31st at the very latest. This means that I have to choose the songs to go on the record, compile the songs, check the levels, transfer to the proper format, burn the CD, fill out the licensing paperwork, finish recording my own songs, and send the thing out. Ideally, this is all done two weeks from today. Here’s how you can help.

First, let me know what song you will be covering (or if you do your own). Some of you have already done this, but you may as well do it again, just so I can be sure. This should happen as soon as possible so that I can figure out the licensing issues. Second, the format for the song can be essentially anything, though .mp3 (standard) and .m4a (Apple music file) are the most common. Higher quality is better, as I can reduce the quality here if I need to. Third, get me the song via email (will work as long as the file is smaller than 10MB) or via ftp (email me and I can let you know the details). Fourth, keep your eyes on your email after you’ve sent me the song, as I may have to solicit you for your signatures. That is, I may have to get your permission to use your recording, and that may have to go to the pressing company with the paperwork.

Finally, continue recording songs. Since there is a time limit for the vinyl pressing (something like 36 minutes), we probably won’t be able to get everyone’s songs on the record. However, there will be an expanded version on CD which we can distribute at the wedding. As far as I’m concerned, there’s essentially no deadline for this. You can hand give me the song at the reception if you’d like, and we can figure things out.

Also, some of you on aren’t going to the wedding; you should record a song anyway.

My email again is a gmail account, username: “pedenb”. Have I forgotten anything? Let me know via comments or email. Here’s an old My Little Brother song.
